May Dream is Hande Coskan Ozturk’s fiction feature-length film project, a contemporary love story set in Istanbul that explores the intricate intersections of personal relationships and political activism. The narrative follows Ömür, a disillusioned leftist activist, and Nisan, a corporate banker with a hidden activist side, as they navigate their growing connection amidst social upheaval.
As Ömür works on an exhibition about May ’68 at a bank gallery, he encounters Nisan, sparking an immediate but challenging relationship between two individuals from seemingly opposite worlds. Through their journey, the film delves into themes of love, revolution, and the evolving nature of activism, blending romance, political drama, and magical realism.
Currently in development, May Dream is envisioned as a thought-provoking and visually immersive experience that reimagines storytelling within Turkey’s dynamic cultural landscape. In a vibrant yet politically charged atmosphere, May Dream questions traditional forms of protest, reimagines resistance, and captures the complexity of modern relationships in an ever-changing society.
